Happy Birthday Alex!

I cannot believe Alex is 2 already. Time has flown by and he is learning so much everyday. We celebrated Alex's birthday by going shopping at Toys-R-Us (quite a trek for us) and we got a new slide which Alex loves. The first couple of times he went down, he wanted to hold our hand, but now he does it all on his own and loves it!!! Alex cheers and laughs every time he goes down and has gone down the slide over and over today. We also had cake which he ate a little of and didn't make nearly the mess he did last year. Haha! He is really trying to talk up a storm and is developing a really distinct personality. He is also starting to make connections between things he owns and things he sees on tv or hears someone talking about. What a smart boy. :) I have included a couple of pictures and a couple of videos below. The video of Alex blowing out the birthday candle is kind of long, but the video on the slide is short. I hope you enjoy them and hope to see all of you soon!

Spring is almost here...

Well, it has been a busy couple of weeks in the Portteus household. Alex is learning new things everyday. He has been learning new words and has developed a new love of Bugs Bunny and Mickey Mouse cartoons. He even says "Oh Toodles" when we watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. HeHe! Alex is improving his basketball skills and has started building block cities. He has also figured out how to climb up onto his horse. We got to go and visit Granny and Papa Fowler and have some fun a couple of weeks ago and Grandma and Grandpa Portteus visited too! It was a fun and busy long weekend. We are also looking forward to going to see Sarah and the boys in Omaha very soon! Enjoy the pictures and I will post more soon.

It has been a while...

I cannot believe that it is nearly the middle of February! Where has the time gone? We have been keeping busy here and enjoying a few days of warm weather (yay!). Alex is getting so big and learning so much every day. We finally found sand to put up the basketball hoop Alex got for Christmas. He loves it! In fact, today when we went to walk at the college, Alex found a basketball and a hoop that was all the way down and was shooting it. He loves banking it off of the backboard. He even understands where to hit on the backboard to make the shot! He must have gotten his mother's basketball skills. Hahaha! Be sure to check out Alex in his "Don't Mess With Texas" shirt and his cowboy hat. LOL! We hope to see many of you soon and enjoy the pictures and the short video!

2009 is here!

Well, the holidays have come and gone and we got to enjoy time with friends and family. Alexander enjoyed his Christmas and is currently going through withdrawal from not having anyone around to entertain him. HeHe! He enjoyed all of his gifts, but I know that he misses having everyone around. Kevin and I also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Tom and Miranda got engaged on Christmas Eve this year also! I am very excited to be able to call Miranda my sister-in-law in the not too distant future. We hope that many of you are able to visit over the next few months. We hope that all of you had a wonderful holiday season and are looking forward to a great 2009.

Alex should be talking very soon! He has more words and babbles nonstop. He loves playing (even out in the cold!) and is really enjoying all of his new cars, trucks, trains, balls and everything else. He is a nonstop bundle of energy and practically runs through each day until bedtime! I have included some Christmas pictures below, so enjoy!

The Holidays are here...

It is finally that time of year again! The time when we celebrate family, friends and the reason we are on this earth. Alex has been enjoying seeing everyone and seeing all the Christmas decorations. We went to see Santa today (will post pictures once I get them) and he wasn't afraid of him, but he did not like sitting on a strange man's lap. Haha! He has gotten to play in the snow and we even went down our little hill on the sled today. He loved it! He is learning something new all the time and has new words everyday. Before we know it, he won't want to stop talking. (He gets that from his Dad of course.) We hope we will get to see all of you over the holidays and we wish you Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!

Merry Christmas from Alexander!

Turkey Day is almost here!

I cannot believe we are heading back to Ohio for Thanksgiving so soon! We cannot wait to see everyone and even meet little Evan soon. It has been cold the last week or so up here, but we haven't had too much snow yet. Alex has enjoyed the snow we have had though. He loves to look at it and touch it. I cannot wait for the first big snow where he can go out and play in it! Alex got his first haircut last week and he did great. I have included some pictures of the finished product below. There is also a short video of Alex playing in his ball pit. We hope that everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoys the beginning of the Christmas season!

Playtime Fun...

Well, it has been a couple of weeks since I posted last. Alex got to experience snow for the first time today. He loved it. He kept trying to grab it as it fell from the sky. He had a great time yesterday playing with all of the other kids that came over last night for dinner. We let them all loose in the basement and they had a great time. Grandpa and Grandma Portteus brought down his horse (see video below) and Alex and friends have loved playing with it. He is getting so big and is starting to climb more. He tried to climb on the kitchen table tonight and Kevin caught him inside of the ottoman we use to store toys. He is clearly saying a few words like "Daddy", "uh-oh", and "kitty". No mama yet of course. :) With Thanksgiving coming quickly, we are excited to get to see family and friends very soon! Enjoy the pictures and video.
